Constructing New Public Space in Havre, MT
Plans for the construction of a town square park are underway in Havre, MT. BNSF Railway Foundation’s contribution of $15,000 to the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce will go toward the second phase of the project, which includes the park’s landscaping, installing the sprinkler system, laying sod, and planting trees. The Chamber hopes to have the park completed in September.
Encouraging Safe and Healthy Bike Riding for Kids in Montana and Wyoming
is on a mission to teach every child in America how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class. Their program is offered at zero cost to schools and equips schools with everything needed to get their students rolling, thanks to generous donors. Recent donations from BNSF Foundation provided bikes, helmets, and a learn to ride curriculum to Big Sky Elementary in Billings, MT and Hobbs and Henderson Elementary schools in Cheyenne, WY.
Partnering in Emergency Response Following Tragedy in Joplin, MT
When an Amtrak passenger train derailed near Joplin, MT, last September, emergency responders of Liberty County jumped into action to care for injured passengers, and BNSF has been in close contact with the community to coordinate assistance efforts. The BNSF Railway Foundation recently donated $75,000 to support the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty County EMS, Joplin Fire District, West Chester Fire District and Hi-Line Health Foundation’s efforts at Liberty Medical Center.
BNSF Foundation Contributes to Communities Year-Round
BNSF Railway Foundation works all year to show appreciation through charitable giving to the thousands of communities along its network. The Foundation supports organizations with scholarships, grants and the Employee Matching Gifts Program, which encourages BNSF employees to give financial aid to qualified educational and nonprofit service organizations by matching every dollar contributed.
