Once a bustling hub for railroad passengers, the historic Northern Pacific depot in Butte, Montana, was recently brought back to life for Hollywood.
BNSF partnered with Paramount+ and 101 Studios to help film a pivotal scene for the season two finale of 1923, a prequel to Yellowstone. The production transformed the depot and surrounding area into a 1920s set, complete with vintage cars, antique props, and a real 1916 steam locomotive. For BNSF employees on-site, the collaboration required careful coordination to ensure train operations continued uninterrupted while film crews captured key shots.
In the 1920s, trains were the gateway to Yellowstone and the American West—making BNSF’s role in recreating that era especially meaningful!
