BNSF continues to advance safety across its network with Positive Train Control (PTC), a technology that provides an added safety layer for train braking. After completing installation on all federally mandated territory in 2023, BNSF extended PTC coverage when operations on the Montana Rail Link (MRL) returned to the network in 2024. This June, PTC went live on 36 miles of what is now our MRL Subdivision, with another 570 miles underway and expected to be completed in December.
Just one of many ways we’re rolling out new ways to increase safety on the rails!
